art♥shop  features local makers during Artprize

Artprize submission performance to be held during one weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – “art♥shop: presented by the Avenue for the Arts" is a three day celebration that brings together local artists and the surrounding community for a market-style event focused on the joy of things made by hand. On Friday, September 21, from 4-10 pm, Saturday, September 22 from 10 am-10 pm, and Sunday, September 23 from 12 pm-6 pm, come see what the Avenue for the Arts does best, developing opportunities for the community to connect with, and experience, local creativity at its finest. An assortment of artists will be displaying locally crafted artwork, sharing performances and honoring the Avenue as it continues to grow as a center for arts and culture in Grand Rapids.

art♥shop  invites new crowds, good vibes, and a variety of beautifully crafted handmade goods. Vendors work hard to make some of the most unique handmade goods in Grand Rapids. The Avenue for the Arts is a neighborhood title for the South Division commercial corridor: we are residential, commercial and nonprofit groups working together in a creative community. We are residents in Heartside, and active participants in shaping change in our neighborhood. In 2005, we chose the Avenue for the Arts as a title to represent our commercial corridor and the projects and events that we create.

art♥shop: presented by Avenue for the Arts is entered in this year’s Artprize and is a performance by local artists, Taylor Greenfield and Jenn Schaub on behalf of the Avenue for the Arts programming facilitated by the Dwelling Place.
