ATTN: It has come to our attention lately that contributors assume the events in this list are already spoken for. GOOD NEWS! In fact, they are not! SO if you're up for covering an event, let us know by commenting on the story bank listing in The Rapidian.
Each iteration of the weekly story pitches spans the Wednesday it's sent out to Friday of the following week.
If you want to attend a paid event, organizers might be open to providing access. Although editorial standards are not negotiable, other parameters such as deadline should be negotiated directly with the organizer.

Go for it!
I don't believe anyone else has said they'll do this story. We in general don't worry too much about more than one person reporting on a single event-there's bound to be more than one angle to every story. We do like it when the two reporters can interact so they can do a bit of collaboration regarding their coverage, so if someone does plan to cover it, feel free to comment here or contact Nathan.
Thanks!
RE: National Record Store Day
No one else has volunteered! It was listed for the most recent story pitches list, which is why you aren't seeing it here. I'm really glad you're covering this!
