Meet The Artists:
Zerilli:
Zerilli is a queer spoken word artist based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Her topics range from her queer experiences, domestic assault, foster care, and many other social issues. She has been interviewed on WYCE’s Electric Poetry twice, and volunteers her time, speaking to youth at schools. Currently she is involved in an endeavor with the Creative Youth Center, that will bring poetry to the forefront, in a Grand Rapids after school program.
KFG:
K. Foster-Goodrich, known in the spoken world realm as KFG, is a poet, social justice activist, and mental health advocate, originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Their poems have been published in Crabfat Magazine, Anti-Heroin Chic Journal, and their poem "A Love Letter for Someone I Barely Knew" received the second place Ned Foskey Poetry Prize. They have won slams and featured at rallies, open-mics and other events across the state, and has been a key speaker at Western Michigan University and Wichita State University.
Kyd Kane:
Kyd Kane (°1987, Grand Rapids, Mi) is a Spoken Word Poet, Community Activist, Motivational Speaker and an Intellectual Writer. Her passion for words started when she was introduced to the art of poetry in the 2nd grade at her elementary school's annual poetry fest and she's been writing ever since. In addition to her love for the arts, she is also lover of family, African culture, music, beer and history. Kyd Kane aims to amplify the astonishment of the spectator by creating poetry that will encourage them to be true to who they are, all while dropping jewels of knowledge to spark an awakening in the mind of those who choose to listen. Kyd Kane has performed at venues and events throughout Michigan and the Midwest since the release of her spoken word video "Awaken" that was shot and directed by Mike Canon Films in February of 2015. As a member of the poetry collective Intellectual Writers, Kyd will continue to use words and rhythm to reconstruct the negative mindsets that are being programmed into today's society.
