Presenter Deirdre Toeller-Novak will explore women's elective history in Grand Rapids when women such as Harriet Cook, Eva McCall Hamilton, Grace Ames Van Hoesen, Evangeline Lamberts and Dr. Linda Johnson were among the first women making names for themselves as elected officials in the local political scene. Others followed, of course, including Toeller-Novak herself who was elected to the boards of Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Rapids Public Schools in the 1980s.  In 2015, a woman marked a milestone for the City of Grand Rapids when it elected Rosalynn Bliss as its first female mayor. Mayor Bliss is our special guest for the evening.

Reservations are highly encouraged by going to EventBrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/annual-reception-tickets-21888751846 or by calling the GGRWHC at 616-574-7307.  Complimentary hors d'oeuvres; wine ticket bar ($5/glass).  Free glass of wine will be available to new and renewing members.  The event is free and open the public.  More information is at www.ggrwhc.org.
