“Healthy U” Lecture Discusses End-of-Life Questions

“Sharing the Journey:  Supporting a Friend or Neighbor at End-of-Life” is the lecture topic for Covenant Village of the Great Lakes’ “Healthy U” lecture on Monday, May 9, 2016, beginning at 10 a.m. Covenant Village of the Great Lakes is a continuing care retirement community located at 2510 Lake Michigan Dr. N.W., Grand Rapids.

Dr. Carol Robinson, DNP, RN, along with Rev. Brian Kyle and Sara Lowe, LMSW, executive director of Emmanuel Hospice, will discuss how to begin the sensitive conversation with your friend; how to offer spiritual support; and how and when to engage hospice.

Robinson’s passion for caring for chronically ill patients and their families has led to her extensive experience with patient/family communication relating to the quality of life and treatment preferences. She is the community coordinator for Making Choices Michigan and serves as an adjunct faculty member at Grand Valley State University-Kirkhof College of Nursing.

Kyle served two years as a hospice chaplain with Hospice of Michigan, and last May was appointed chaplain of Covenant Village of the Great Lakes.As executive director of Emmanuel Hospice, Lowe provides mission-based collaborative leadership. She serves on the Kaufman Interfaith Institute service committee and on the steering committee for Making Choices Michigan.
