Thursday, September 25, 2014

11:00 a.m.

Covenant Village of the Great Lakes, a faith-based, not-for-profit, continuing care retirement community administered by Covenant Retirement Communities, will host Paul Brand, president and CEO of Alliance for Health, as he presents “Healthy People, Healthy Economy” on Sept. 25

The event begins at 11 a.m. The number of people in the U.S. with diabetes has tripled since 1980, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and in 2013, countyhealthrankings.org listed nine percent of adults in Kent County as having diabetes. Brand will explore the economic ramifications chronic disease and obesity can have on the economy. He’ll discuss why it’s up to individuals to change their diet and live a healthier lifestyle.

Alliance for Health, a nonprofit West Michigan organization, is a broad-based community coalition encouraging optimal health for all through high-quality health care services at the lowest cost.

Covenant Village of the Great Lakes is located at 2510 Lake Michigan Dr. N.W., Grand Rapids. Space is limited, so reserve your spot now. For more information, please visit www.CovenantGreatLakes.org or call (877) 812-8745.
