 Hi everyone!

Oh-my-gosh-one-of-the-biggest-events-of-the-spring-is-almost-here!

Mark your calendars for Art.Downtown. next Friday from 6-11pm. The tagline goes something like this: 400 artists, 25 unexpected downtown locations, 2 trolleys, 1 night. Plan on coming early and staying late cause you can’t see it all… Also, there are still some volunteer slots open for the event. If you are interested in helping out (free t-shirt!) email Annamarie at [email protected]!  (on top of that next Saturday is National Record Store Day, enjoy Vertigo’s Celebration,  and Slow Art Day at the GRAM)

But we live in the here and NOW so ta-da- Here is Word on the Street for April 8, 2010

All weekend long you can catch the Latin American Film Festival at the Wealthy Theater. There is a solid line up of movies starting at 5 pm each night running for 3 nights. Pretty rad.  Another totally sweet thing? It’s all free. FREE! For a total line up check the CMC website, www.grcmc.org Location: 1130 Wealthy St SE

All weekend long at the UICA you can catch a movie that looks totally sweet called Citizen Architect about a program that places people in rural Alabama into new homes while forcing college designers to think outside the box. Showtimes are listed under films at www.uica.org (There are all new shows at the UICA as well and they are worth a peek so be sure to go early and see the shows!)

The Chiaroscuro film series is back at the UICA this weekend with “U-Carmen”. MONDAY!

So even though I have a slew of over due books I love the library…. On Monday night you can attend a Money Smart Monday class from 630 until 8pm at the Ryerson Auditorium (3rd floor). Some “area experts” will expand your brain by taking about different types of investing for retirement, how to make sure you have enough money to retire and more!  FREE

Ah we got a little tip off about the VIP comedy show at Dog Story Theater on Monday nights. They are inviting a local Celeb to the stage each Monday night and then spontaneously creating a show based on their responses and feedback. First up? George Aquino of JW Marriott. And at a very affordable $5 for the show it makes it a steal! Thanks for the tip Joe.  Location 1115 Taylor (Just south of Plainfield and Leonard)

Tuesday!
When I was a kid I was terrified of the animal flying dog dragon thing from the Neverending Story. In fact. I think I am still a little freaked out by it… so for any of you who aren’t freaked out… Tuesday night at the Wealthy Theater. 1130 from 8-10pm… Cost: 5$
