St. Cecilia Music Center (SCMC) in Grand Rapids will bring Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center musicians back for their second concert of the season on January 19, 2023.
“Magical Schubert” will feature music from the prolific composer Franz Schubert. CMS artists Gloria Chien – pianist, Allesio Bax – pianist, Benjamin Beilman – violinist, and David Requiro – cellist will perform three Schubert pieces. St. Cecilia Music Center and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center have been partners for over a decade in bringing world-class chamber music performances to West Michigan.
Executive & Artistic Director of SCMC Cathy Holbrook says, “Franz Schubert gave the world an astonishing wealth of compositions during his very short 31 years of life. In this program, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center artists will celebrate Schubert’s magical genius with three of his most significant chamber music works. The performance of Schubert’s beautiful melodies and harmonic innovation performed by these world-class artists within our intimate Royce Auditorium will be a truly mesmerizing evening of beauty.”
Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center tickets for “Magical Schubert” are $50/$35/$20 and can be purchased online at www.scmcgr.org or by calling 616-459-2224. St. Cecilia Music Center is located at 24 Ransom Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

Four-hand piano pieces bring musicians as close as they can get to the ultimate in collegial music-making. The piano trio, with just one additional musician, generates all the excitement and passion of an entire orchestra. Romantics Brahms and Arensky mine the full range of these two genres to bring listeners an evening that begins with the wonder of childhood and ends with Brahms at the height of his dramatic powers. The CMS musicians appearing in this program include CMS Co-Artist Director Wu Han, piano Wu Qian, piano Bella Hristova, violin; and Dmitri Atapine, cello.
