Painting a neighbor's wall, and in return getting help raking leaves, these are just some example of how individuals have used Timebank Grand Rapids, according to Oakdale Neighbors Executive Director Tom Bulten. Timebank Grand Rapids gives you the chance to earn a "time dollar" by doing something for someone else. You can "store" and collect "time dollars" when another member asks you to do something for for them. Activities can range from, among other things, childcare, yard work, home repair, or a ride to the store.
Everyone is welcome to join the time bank, which is hosted by Oakdale Neighbors in partnership with Timebanks USA. To become a member, begin by creating an online account, or download the Timebank Grand Rapids Application and bring it to Oakdale Neighbors.
To learn more about the timebank, Oakdale Neighbors is hosting an orientation Wednesday, July 24 at 7 p.m. For more questions, call Tom at (616) 248-2848.
