WYCE 88.1FM, West Michigan’s Community Radio Station, will be heard throughout the winter season in downtown Grand Rapids. This Friday, December 2, 2016 is the kickoff to the holiday season with “Light Up Downtown” taking place at 5 p.m. at Rosa Parks Circle. Festivities include the annual lighting of the Christmas tree and opening of the Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink, as well as a performance and skating lessons from the Western Michigan University's synchronized skating team, free professional photographs with Santa and Mrs. Claus and a meet and great with some of the Grand Rapids Ballet Nutcracker performers.

The event will feature Emcees from WYCE Radio including station manager and GR LIVE host Quinn Mathews as well as El Mundo Musical host Gabriella De La Vega. WYCE holiday music will be playing throughout the event until 7 p.m

But the music doesn’t stop there! WYCE 88.1FM will be featured all throughout the winter season and beyond at Rosa Parks Circle! Nothing says community more than the sounds of community radio in the heart of downtown! WYCE and the Grand Rapids Community Media Center have been thrilled to work with the Office of Special Events, the Parks Department, and DGRI to make this happen. As visitors to our city come explore downtown Grand Rapids they will be welcomed by the sounds of “A World Of Music” WYCE 88.1FM, West Michigan’s entirely listener sponsored and volunteer powered station. A good amount of programming on the station includes music made right here in west Michigan. WYCE is loyal to supporting local artists in this thriving music scene.

So join WYCE as we kick off the sounds of winter this Friday, December 2 in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids to support our community and “Light Up Downtown!” Special thanks to sponsors and partners at Rockford Construction, The City of Grand Rapids, Experience Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids Art Museum.
