The first weekend in March came in like a lamb as thousands of people descended upon Devos Place in Grand Rapids for the 39th annual Home and Garden Show.
Kicking off the unofficial end of winter, vendors and local businesses were set up to showcase your needs and wants for that upcoming home, yard, or garden project.
“I need an infusion of spring and some inspiration,” said longtime gardner and Rockford resident Wendy VanWagoner. “I can't wait to get my hands dirty.”
Local chef Tommy FitzGerald grilled asparagus and peppers at the DTE grilling deck had some insight to say about the success of the show.
“This show is great because it is spring fever and everybody is looking at their dead yards saying I should plant a bush there or I should do this there and this there.”
With people being cooped up all winter long there is a sense to get outside and work in the yard.. Plants are starting to grow outside and the smell of spring in the air
“It’s still not spring,” said Doug Wierenga of Fruit Basket Flowerland. “I know it's March but there are still opportunities out there to get working in our yard.”
