On October 22 and 23, the Downtown Market will host the Market’s first Jack O’Lantern Jamboree event, with fun Halloween events for the whole family.
Guests can watch as professional pumpkin carvers turn ordinary pumpkins into beautiful works of art on Sunday. After a little inspiration from the professionals, visitors can pick out pumpkins to purchase at the outdoor pumpkin patch. Those that love to carve but hate the mess are in luck. They can still partake in the fun by heading upstairs inside the Downtown Market and carve their pumpkins in the Market’s banquet room to avoid the cleanup.
In addition to pumpkin carving, free activities for kids include face-painting and decorating their own mini-pumpkins to take home.
“We love bringing people together to celebrate festivities and holiday activities through food, education and fun,” said Mimi Fritz, president and CEO of the Downtown Market. “The Market is a community gathering place that welcomes everyone, and these free events are a great opportunity to spend the day with the family.”
For the 21+ crowd, the Market bar will serve a variety of pumpkin beers and cocktails throughout the weekend to get you in the Halloween spirit.
The event is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to drop in throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market, 435 Ionia Ave SW, Grand Rapids. To learn more, visit the Downtown Market's website.
