Harmony Hall (401 Stocking Avenue NW) will host a tree lighting and ornament event called Deck the Harmony Halls on Wednesday, December 2. The event proceeds will benefit the Westown Collaborative. The event will include the release of the first of four holiday beers, beginning with their barrel aged Winter Nights beer. There will also be music performed by The Original Dickens Carolers.
"Deck the Harmony Halls is a chance to support the good work of the Westown Collaborative by purchasing an ornament for $5.00," says Heather VanDyke, co-owner of Harmony Hall. "You'll receive a keepsake ornament and a second one to hang on our tree. All the proceeds will go directly to the Westown Collaborative."
The event begins at 11 a.m. and people will be able to purchase ornaments all day. The even will cap off with a tree lighting ceremony at 8 p.m. and The Original Dickens Carolers performing from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
VanDyke says they wanted to work with Westown Collaborative because they're an umbrella organization for so many agencies offering support to their new neighbors on the Westside.
"They are working to build a neighborhood that is marked by diversity, inclusion and hope. Those values absolutely sync with our own. We've been able to work with the Collaborative to hire locally, and look forward to building that program within our organization. The money that we raise will go directly to fund resident led initiatives, like building community gardens," says VanDyke.
Harmony Hall will be offering new holidays beers and seasonal music throughout the month of December. The holiday beers will be released every Wednesday. Special December release beers include Barrel Aged Winter Nights, Gingerbread Brown, Mexican Hot Chocolate Stout, and Oliebollen New Years Belgian.
