Rapidian interns hard at work

Rapidian interns hard at work /Renato Delos Reyes

At The Rapidian, we are constantly looking for ways to improve and develop citizen journalism. We vehemently believe in increasing the flow of hyperlocal news to the Grand Rapids Community and are working to create a culture where people throughout the community can become both content consumers and content producers.

As The Rapidian continues to grow, we are coming to the realization that part of providing and supporting hyperlocal content is the need to provide educational support in the form of journalism and reporter trainings.

We have been hard at work refining an educational curriculum for our new internship and residency program. This curriculum will help prepare individuals that are passionate about citizen journalism and hyperlocal news to improve their storytelling abilities.

With the development of our program, The Rapidian would like to share these new internship and residency opportunities with you all.

These positions are not exclusively for writing or journalism majors. The Rapidian encourages all majors at all local colleges to apply, in addition to non-students.

While we do expect skilfull writing capabilities for most of our positions, we are looking for people that are passionate about storytelling and community building. If you have an idea for an internship opportunity that we have not listed, please do not hesitate to contact The Rapidian.

We are always looking for new ways to perpetuate citizen journalism and hyperlocal news. The Rapidian is excited to start the new year with new people and fresh ideas, so please check out the opportunities to join our team:

Applicants with a keen interest in finding out not only what is happening now but learning about the history of innovation in the area and who was behind the story are encouraged to apply.

Future beat internship areas will be advertised as they become available. Applicants interested as much in building a community as they are in building content are encouraged to apply.
