The Market presented by the Avenue for the Arts is back and bigger than ever. This is a great opportunity to wander the sidewalks of South Division between Fulton and Cherry and celebrate creativity and community. This year the Avenue for the Arts will host TWO events, June 8 and July 13 2013 from 12 p.m.- 8 p.m. Local artists, entertainers and businesses will be at their most vibrant. The Market is now looking for musicians/performers, artists/vendors and volunteers. To request an application, email the Avenue for the Arts here.

The Market invites new crowds, good vibes and a variety of beautifully crafted handmade goods. Vendors work hard to make some of the most unique and well-made art in the state. Artists keep prices affordable and are always excited to explain their practice. From vintage threads to hand pulled prints, collage kitsch and knick knacks galore, shoppers are sure to find an instant favorite.

Last year's market featured over 60 local artists stretching down the sidewalks from Cherry to Oakes. This year, there are hopes of expanding even further. In addition to the abundance of local art and handmade goods, entertainment at the Market promises to be a pleasant surprise. Performances range from live art, street buskers, acoustic musicians, hula hoop troops, drum circles and more. This event gives Grand Rapids artists and the community a chance to support one another, network and become involved.

There is a change in scheduling for this year: TWO EVENTS. These changes in the Market will create a much larger event footprint and make the event more available to a wide spectrum of the Grand Rapids community.

The Market presented by Avenue for the Arts is a program facilitated by the Dwelling Place and Supported by the Downtown Development Authority. The coordinator's of this year's market are Taylor Greenfield and Jessica Hacker, they can be reached at [email protected].
