The magnificent Madison Avenue and Hall Streetscape project is currently in the works! Community stakeholders have been anxiously anticipating the construction of a beautiful streetscape in this area and it is exciting to see it actually taking place. The primary purpose of the streetscape improvements is to increase pedestrian safety, improve traffic flow and enhance the aesthetics of the corridor. These streetscape improvements will complement the present and future housing and business development projects within our neighborhood.
According to Grand Rapids City Officials, the first and current phase is Hall Street from Jefferson Avenue to Madison Avenue and Madison Avenue from Adams Street to Hall Street. If you haven’t had the opportunity to walk the streets and take a look, don’t hesitate! On a jaunt down Madison Avenue you will see new curbs and gutters, street trees, ornamental lighting, landscaping, bulb outs, gateways with green space and signs, benches and litter receptacles, brick pavers, and replacement of sidewalks.
