Our fund drive officially starts today!
You may have noticed invitations already in your Facebook community or elsewhere that Rapidians are asking you to “Join Us.” Well, today, you finally can.
Why should you join us? Maybe you value supporting our local economy. Perhaps community engagement - local citizens getting involved in their city - is important to you. Or it may be that the opportunities for new voices, or youth literacy or celebrating the community are important to you.
It's also possible you really like reading the local stories about our food, beer, music or dance, especially when they're written by your friends and neighbors.
Whatever your reason, we are asking our supporters to turn that value into a financial contribution during the one week of the year that we hold our fund drive.
This year, our goal is to raise $20,000 between May 14 and 19. To do this, we’re offering a variety of thank you gifts and benefits to our community. You can see all of the options here.
We know that our goal of raising $20,000 is a challenge, but one that we know we can reach with the support of our entire Rapidian community. To thank our donors, we have many great donation levels this year. Along with our Rapidian Readers Council, some highlights include:
Locavore Lunch: Your choice of two $10 gift certificates from a variety generous local restaurants comes with a donation of $50
Locavore Dinner: With a $100 donation, you get to choose two $25 gift certificates to one of our wonderful restaurants

If you want to show off your Rapidian pride, we’ve got you covered as well. We have t-shirts, notebooks, reusable bags and USB drives. We even have new Rapidian vinyl stickers so you can show off your support on your water bottle, car or laptop.
This week, we’ll also be updating you of our progress to our goal of $20,000 on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and we’ll be live tweeting thanks to all of our donors. Stay tuned, because we also might be offering a few power hours where you can make your donations go even further.
