Repurpose former Public Museum

Site:Lab has created a jurored contest to breathe new life into the former home of the Grand Rapids Public Museum.

The arts-based nonprofit SiTE:LAB is sponsoring an idea competition with more than $10,000 in prizes to help repurpose the defunct building that housed the former Public Museum. The project, called 54Jeff after the location of the building on 54 Jefferson Ave SE, will open registration on June 15 and will host a special exhibit of idea submissions during ArtPrize 2013 (September 18 to October 6), seperate from the reknown arts competition.   

Individuals, teams or school studios are encouraged to register online by August 1 for a reduced rate, or by the final deadline of August 14.  Check out registration information and submission requirements on their website. 

The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.
