In this week’s episode of GRTV’s NPO Showcase, Corey Turner, Development Manager at Blandford Nature Center, discusses the Growing Up Blandford Campaign and how this community-supported effort will help Blandford welcome even more visitors to this unique urban nature center.
Blandford Nature Center is tucked just to the west of Grand Rapids and features 143 beautiful acres that see over 50,000 visitors each year. Blandford provides environmental education and community programs that help people of all ages get outdoors to enjoy and engage in our natural world. Once owned by the Grand Rapids Public Museum, Blandford became an independent nonprofit in 2006. Since then, the organization has continued to mature and saw the need to expand in order to meet supply and demand needs.
The Growing Up Blandford Campaign will increase capacity for programs and visitors and help sustain programming into the future. This includes a new Visitor Center that will be accessible to all, increased space for large school groups, and establishing an endowment that will help fund Blandford into the future. A grand opening of the new facilities and community celebration will be held on Earth Day on April 22.
You can help Blandford Nature Center provide more opportunities for all by donating to the Growing Up Blandford Campaign. Watch the NPO Showcase segment above to learn more about the community programs, camps, and other opportunities that Blandford provides, or visit their website.
Check back next Wednesday for a new segment of GRTV’s NPO Showcase.
