Gay Afternoon, a neighborhood celebration of inclusion and diversity, is returning to Cherry Park later this summer. For more updates on the event, check back on the East Hills Council of Neighbors Facebook or on their website.

For over 20 years, neighbors, members of the community and city leaders have been meeting at the East Hills Council of Neighbors every Friday morning to talk about various things going on in the neighborhood and the city. The event is open to anyone, and runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Most people come and go, dropping by long enough for some coffee and conversation, says Claire Fisher, community organizer for the Council.

"So many projects have come out of it," says Fisher. She calls the event a "think tank," an open forum where different personalities come together to generate creative ideas and discuss ways to positively respond to neighborhood complaints. Fisher invites you drop by any Friday by the small pink house that was the old warming hut when the park included an ice rink. The building now houses the East Hills Council of Neighbors at the northeast end of Cherry Park.
