The Grand Rapids Community Drum Circle hosts public drum circles every Saturday at Wilcox Park from 6 p.m. until dusk. They hope to create an environment to stir the community together. The group says the public is encouraged to join them, and to bring their hula hoops, guitars, shakers, saxophones, banjos, harmonicas, recorders, tambourine or simply themselves to be ready to dance.
Children and pets are welcome. Face paint and jangly belts are highly encouraged.
The evening starts off with a potluck picnic, followed by the dancing and drumming begin.
Each week, the event lasts until the sun settles for the evening.
The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.
We need your help.
If each of our readers and content creators who values this community platform help support its creation and maintenance, The Rapidian can continue to educate and facilitate a conversation around issues for years to come.
