Go Java is a comfy, house-y feeling café. Its a great place to stop during ArtPrize for a warm drink and an energizing snack. Located downtown, you can stop for a bit and view the art and then sip your coffee as you take in the view of busy Ionia street from inside.
Try their Chai Latte, a spicy blend of green tea, caramel, clove, cinnamon and orange or their vanilla, chai and gingerbread flavored Harvest Spice Latte. Along with biscotti, candy bars, chips and other packaged snacks, they also serve delicious and fresh bagels and muffins from Apple Pie Bakery on 44th street. On your way out, be sure to get some chocolate covered espresso beans from their gumball machine.
The ArtPrize you'll see
Jodi Brown - A local who helped decorate the new café, Jodi will be displaying a stained glass piece of a tree. She also does oil painting and paints carpets and other fabrics.
Karin Nelson - Karin recently quit her day job to paint full time. Her ArtPrize piece will be a canvas painting of a tree scene, she specializes in birch tree impressions. You can see some of her work at knexpressions.blogspot.com.
Troy Picou - Originally from Lousiana, Troy recently moved to Grand Rapids and is head of media and marketing at Grand Rapids First Assembly. His piece will be a sculpture of a sea horse. You can see some of his work at troypicou-sculpture.blogspot.com.
