Editorial Independence & Transparency

The Rapidian upholds the highest standards of editorial independence, following guidelines set by the Institute for Nonprofit News.

We retain full authority over our editorial content to ensure journalistic integrity and maintain a strict firewall between news decisions and funding sources. Acceptance of financial support does not imply endorsement of any donor, their products, services, or opinions.

We are committed to full transparency in how we fund our work. We accept gifts, grants, and sponsorships from individuals, organizations, and foundations to support our operations, special projects, and coverage of specific topics. However, our editorial decisions remain entirely independent—donors have no role in assigning, reviewing, or editing content.

While we may accept funding to support reporting on particular issues, we maintain complete editorial control and do not allow funders to influence coverage. Donors do not receive the right to review or alter our content.

To uphold our commitment to transparency:

• We publicly disclose all donors who contribute $5,000 or more annually.

• We do not accept funding from political parties, elected officials, or candidates for public office.

• We do not accept donations from anonymous sources unless safeguards ensure full editorial independence.

• We reject contributions from sources deemed by our board to pose a conflict of interest or compromise our journalistic integrity.

Our work is driven by community support, but our reporting always remains independent, transparent, and accountable.
