So, Idlewild was a vacation community up off of M-37 that has reached mythic proportions as a he-played-she-played hot spot for African American performers. On Thursday night at 6:30pm catch a documentary about the place called “Whatever Happened To Idlewild” at the Wealthy Theater. Every year on I end up at the Library at the same time that they have Taste of Soul and let me tell you what..…each time there is literally a line up waiting for the doors to open! Tis that good! Or maybe a little conversation is more your style? The GRAM is finally getting the message that to gain support from the Arts Community they have to be SUPPORTIVE of the arts community… an interesting and foreign concept for some of the cultural institutions in GR. So Anyhow.…The 100 year programming is going to include a series of community inspired “Conversations” created by and organized by local arts professionals. This means if YOU need a platform and venue to talk about issues dealing with ART and CULTURE that YOU are interested in and want a rad space to have it in, the GRAM is game. Conversations need to be inclusive community based and arts related. BUT you still need to jump through some hoops and there is a FORM to fill out… which I can send to you OR you can request from Kerri at [email protected].
