Miniature cupcakes lined platters in shades of pink, cream, and mocha. Chocolate, vanilla, raspberry and caramel delighted the taste buds of the crowds gathered for the grand opening of Connie’s Cakes in its new Eastown location.

Although large wet snowflakes fell outside, the cake shop was crowded with supporters celebrating and congratulating Mary Scheidel, owner of Connie’s Cakes.

Those in attendance included Major Heartwell during the ribbon cutting ceremony, which was held at 11:00 a.m.

With walls in airy shades of pink with brown accents, the atmosphere was lively as people sipped coffee, tasted cupcakes or enjoyed pizza from Harmony Brewery Company.

Scheidel, owner of Connie’s Cakes since 2010, is excited to be part of the vibrant Eastown community.  Scheidel credits the success and popularity of Connie’s Cakes with the combination of excellent customer loyalty as well as a talented team of designers and decorators.

Connie’s Cakes remains open late today until 7:00 p.m.
