The series and the assignment

This article is one in a series created by students in Mr. Alex Escamilla's journalism class at Southwest Community Campus. Students were asked to complete artwork and write an article regarding bullying issues in Grand Rapids, and America as a whole. Students worked with artist Reyna Garcia and Grandville Avenue Arts and Humanities to complete artwork to express their thoughts about bullying.

A boy named Zack in the 6th grade has been bullied by his classmates. He’s been pushed around, thrown to the ground and tripped down the stairs. All because of his high grades.

Zack was at a middle school, named Lee. He was living a normal life like any other kid, but one day when his classmates found out he had really high grades, they asked him if he could do all their homework and school work. Zack answered them with a no.

After school, that day, his classmates all went up to him and started to push him and kick him. They told him if he doesn’t do their work, he will be needing to go to the hospital. So then Zack started to do all their homework for his six classmates.

He stood up to them and told them he wouldn’t do any more work for them. At lunch all six classmates went up to him and started to bother Zack and when school was over, they beat him up.

Zack started to do their work again but the bullies were treating him like a dog, so Zack told the teacher about the problems he has. The teacher got them all in big trouble and ever since that day he has now gotten his normal life back.

In conclusion Zack has done a good job on telling the teacher about the bullies. Anybody could get help, but (you?) just got to be brave and tell an adult.
