In this week’s segment of GRTV’s NPO Showcase Ann Celeste Cloyd of Blue Star Players shares some of the goals for the performing collective, and discusses ways community members with a variety of skills and interests can get involved with their productions.
Established in 2015, Blue Star Players is an international performing arts collective based in Grand Rapids. They work with collaborators in London England, and hope to increase their footprint as the collective grows. Collaborators are encouraged to participate in all aspects of productions they are interested in, from performing, producing, directing, and writing.
The Blue Star Players believe the arts should be an all-inclusive environment and encourage any community members who would like to learn more, or get involved, to get in touch. The Blue Star Players are currently soliciting script submissions for production during their 2018 season, with a deadline of June 30, 2017.
Recenty, the Blue Star Players debuted the locally written new work "36 Questions" in collaboration with the Lake Effect Fringe Festival. Keep an eye out for the Blue Star Players next family-friendly production "The Witch in the Wood," hitting the stage in September 2017 at the Dog Story Theater.
Check back next Wednesday for a new segment of GRTV’s NPO Showcase, featuring the Kent County Parks Foundation
