The Artists of Heartside Gallery and Studio--Crystal McGinn

This dispatch was added by one of our Nonprofit Neighbors. It does not represent the editorial voice of The Rapidian or Community Media Center.

Initially I got my inspiration from old videogames, like RPGs (role-playing games), and I get them from experiences of my own life.

Our featured artist for January is Crystal McGinn. Here is a little about the artist, in her own words:

My name is Crystal McGinn. I’ve loved to draw pretty much my whole life, and I’ve been coming to Heartside Studio since late spring of 2012. At first I mostly worked on my comic or I sketched. Lately I’ve also been working on pieces to sell here. I primarily use gouache, an opaque watercolor, when I paint but I also use ink and sometimes acrylics.

I make a comic as a hobby called The Cynical Tales of Light. Initially I got my inspiration from old videogames, like RPGs (role-playing games), and I get them from experiences of my own life.

Crystal's work will begin being featured on our studio walls later this month. Be sure to stop in and check out her newest work!

The Artists of Heartside Gallery and Studio is a monthly feature to highlight some of the wonderful people of the Heartside neighborhood. Visit www.heartside.org , Facebook and our Flickr page to keep up with us, to learn about volunteering and other ways to get involved.
