The Adopt a Family program is sponsored by Head Start and Heart of West Michigan United Way's 2-1-1.  All families have been selected by caseworkers based on income and need requirements.

With Christmas just 17 days away, Heart of West Michigan United Way's holiday Adopt a Family program is still seeking groups, companies, and families willing to spread a little hope and cheer by adopting a family.

Currently, there are still 25 low-income families on the waiting list.

Each family has at least one child in the Head Start program and has been nominated by a caseworker who is familiar with the family's needs. Gifts of food, clothing, and toys can make a huge impact on the family, especially the children, and show them that they live in a community that cares.

If your group is able to make this holiday truly special for a family, please contact Sherri Vainavicz as soon as possible at 616-752-8641.

The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.

We need your help.

If each of our readers and content creators who values this community platform help support its creation and maintenance, The Rapidian can continue to educate and facilitate a conversation around issues for years to come.
