2010 Community Spirit Awards for Non-Profits! Nominations Needed. Please Read.

The world around us is filled with leaders, sometimes vibrant, outgoing people, sometimes quiet, extraordinary individuals who almost go without noticing. Whoever they are or the organizations they are involved with, this is your opportunity to make them known and appreciated by our community. Lighthouse is now accepting Nominations for the 2nd Annual Community Spirit Awards to be held on March 25, 2010.

The nomination is easy and at your fingertips and will be accepted through Friday, February 19, 2010. Just provide us with the name of the nominee, their phone and email address and tell us what makes this person or organization a deserving recipient of a Community Spirit Award.

The Community Spirit Awards recognizes commitment, leadership and creativity shown by organizations and volunteers. The award categories are as follows:

Cornerstone Award-
Awarded to an organization that is a model of capacity building and
demonstrates impact in a specific area.Cornerstone nominees are model organizations that build their infrastructure through evaluation, education and training to assure their programs and/or services are mission oriented and make a powerful impact in their community.

Outstanding Collaborations Award-
Awarded to highlight a creative and provocative
partnership formed between a non-profit and other non-profits, foundations, business and/or
governmental entities working together to create an impact.

Innovation Award-
Awarded to recognize an organization or program that has employed
innovative strategies of their mission, developed something “brand-new”, or put a new twist on an old ideal to address community needs.

Enterprise Partner Award-
Awarded to recognize companies and businesses that engage nonprofitorganizations expertise, resources and/or partnerships to exemplary results.

Community Spirit Award (Youth) -
Awarded to an individual 18 years of age or younger that
works at making change and community impact occur.

Community Spirit Award-
Awarded to an individual within an organization that uses creative
thinking and goes above and beyond the call of duty towards the mission and goals of their organization.Community Spirit Awards represent individuals who stand out and go the extra mile to createpositive opportunities of change within their organization or community.

Independent Spirit Award-
Awarded to individual volunteers, community leaders that provide
countless hours of selfless time and labor for the cause that they believe in.

Non-Profit Project of the year Award-
Awarded to the non-profit that has completed a project
within the last twelve- eighteen (12-18) months that displays a sense of community & partnerships consistent with local development efforts., demonstrating commitment to the neighborhoods and communities in which they provide services.

The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.
