This week we are throwing down the Top (1-2-3-4-5) five weekend essentials:

1. Recently got to check out the Kent County String Band and not only were they eye catching (gentlemanly dress each ‘n every one of ‘em) but they sounded fantastic as well. So this Thursday they are playing at the Viceroy on Commerce. New bar, New band, good atmosphere.  Starts at 8 goes till 10:30

Location: 53 Commerce.

2. Garage Gallery: With two days to hit up the Garage Gallery you have no reason to miss this sweet minty cool event. From 5-10pm on Friday and 12-6pm on Saturday you can buy some art, grab some goodies, ponder the coolness of vintagey fantastic-ness and wonder why this miraculous combo of art, handmade goods and vintage goods doesn’t happen more often in GR.
Location: 475 Julia St NE
Cost: Free

3. The show that it almost hurts to miss because the music is SOOOOOO good and EVERYONE is going to be there. Saturday night at Founders: Cabildo, Chance Jones and AB and Coconut Brown (WHAT the TRIPLE THREAT!) at Founders, $5 to get in the door. Show starts at 9:30, and boy oh boy you better not miss this one!

4. Also on Saturday night three dudes playing music at 235 South Division. Justin VanHaven, Kyle Rasche (Chain of Lakes) and Justin Stover are going to be throwing down some classy beats. And since it has a house party vibe the deal is munchies are provided but BYOB.

5. We all enjoy ice cream, we all enjoy art, and so we should all enjoy Sunday Sundaes! The DAAC’s Sunday Soup crew is trying their hand at the Sundae summer routine and leaving the hot stuff at home. Come down for a dip, hear some rad presentations and then choose a great small-scale project to bequeath some funds to.  Guest host is birthday girl of N&N fame, Denise Cheng
Location: 115 South Division
Cost: $5

6. So yeah I said five events but I wanted to sneak this last one in… Grand Central Market got some new owners and a pretty amazing overhaul. They have expanded their deli selections, started producing some choice snacks and take a-ways and are still the most kick ass locally owned sandwich joint in downtown. On Tuesday they are having a grand RE- Opening with the MAYOR and of course all of the cool kids are going to be they’re trying the gelato! Stop in from 5-67 for samples snacks and yummy goodness!
Location: 57 Monroe Center
Cost: $5

I have to admit, I think you should attend each and every one of these events this weekend, cause they are just that freaking good.

In case you didn’t know, on Facebook you can join the WOTS group. Currently we are sending word out as an “event” and a message on facebook so feel free to share…..
