Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes and the Grand Rapids Public Library are teaming up for Be a Boss Camp this summer! For 8 weeks, students will get to craft their entrepreneurial skills; everything from research & development, design, budgeting, and marketing - in order to create an app that could make them BANK!
Students could be the boss of their own company! At the start of camp, students will decide who will be the president, as well as all other traditional positions in a company. Throughout the summer they will be working as a team to come up with an app that solves a community problem. On the final day of camp, they will present their applications alongside their marketing plan. Some examples from last year’s camp include an app that recommended books to read, functioning as a mediator between GRPL’s library catalogue and Amazon. Users were able to read a review of a book and retrieve it from the library shelf or order it from Amazon. Another app enabled users to acquire digital copies of books in exchange for viewing advertisements.
This camp is entirely volunteer led and we are looking for people to help out! We love to get people from the tech/software community as well as people who are in business! Please email [email protected].
