Neighbors, stakeholders, and the broader community are invited to help create and verify park concept plans and identify priority improvement projects.
Neighborhood Planning Teams were established for each park that have acquainted consultants, VIRIDIS Design Group (and team) and Progressive AE, with the park and surrounding neighborhood. The teams have been instrumental in planning the design workshops for each park as scheduled below.

While the plans produced will be comprehensive, a priority project area will be identified in each park for implementation in 2015. “Upon completion of the plans, thanks to the citizens of Grand Rapids for approving the parks millage, we will begin making new investments in parks rather than tending only to repairs,” said Connie Bohatch, managing director of Community Services.
Final plans will be unveiled to the general public on December 3, 2014. The Plan Review Open House, hosted by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, will be held in the Gerald R. Ford Academic Center gymnasium from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
The Friends of Grand Rapids Parks is coordinating the park design process. Friends is an independent nonprofit organization with the mission of identifying specific park projects, mobilizing people, and generating resources to protect, enhance, and expand the City’s parks and public spaces.
