In this week’s segment of GRTV’s NPO Showcase Larry DeShane Jr. from the Grand Rapids Pride Center discusses the many programs, support services, and community awareness initiatives the center is involved with.
The Pride Center's goal is to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for the LGBTQ community by providing a space for like-minded individuals to congregate, share experiences, and be comfortable expressing their true self. They offer a variety of support groups geared toward a range of ages, backgrounds and needs. The Pride Center also connects community members with businesses and organizations in the community that have been vetted as LGBTQ supportive.
In an effort to foster an inclusive environment for the greater community of West Michigan, the Pride Center provides community education and training for organization leaders, staff, and other groups interested in ensuring and maintaining their own supportive environment. The Pride Center also organizes the annual Grand Rapids Pride Festival, which is celebrating its 29th year on Saturday, June 17th. The festival is currently accepting sponsors and vendor submissions for this year's event.
In a new collaboration with Justice for our Neighbors West Michigan, the Pride Center is offering office hours the second Thursday of every month from 1-4 pm for LGBTQ new arrivals to America.
Check back next Wednesday for a new segment of GRTV’s NPO Showcase, featuring the West Michigan Environmental Access Council!

We need your help.
