Our friend Matt Russell was in an accident on his moped about a year ago. He suffered a compound femur fracture, a broken wrist, a cracked sternum and a fractured jaw. This resulted in the doctors having to put a titanium rod in his leg and he has been on the mend all year. Unfortunately the titanium rod broke and reversed a lot of the progress he has been making and has resulted in him being very uncomfortable all the time. We are having this benefit to raise money to help with his medical bills. Please everyone stop on by and help out our friend!

Food will be provided by Bartertown and we will have a silent auction with some artwork and other items donated by local businesses!

I have never written a story for the Rapidian, but feel this should be covered and I am willing to help out.  This event I am donating work to as well as some other great local artists.  It shows the larger issue of what can happen to uninsured people as well as the need for all to have access to health insurance.  There has been some talk of Artpeers trying to create some sort of artists health insurance pool, and this article could be a good way to start that conversation.
