The Neighborhood Business Alliance and Neighborhood Ventures welcome the community to join us as we celebrate the twenty-fourth presentation of Neighborhood Business Awards on November 7th at the historic Wealthy Theatre (1130 Wealthy Street SE).

The 24th Annual Neighborhood Business Awards is the longest running celebration of neighborhood economic development projects in Grand Rapids.  “We have the privilege to honor some eighty-five individuals and businesses in fifteen competitive categories for accomplishing excellence over the past twelve months”, says Mark C. Lewis, Executive Director of Neighborhood Ventures.  “From single site independently-owned businesses to nationals with an ever reaching presence, the common denominator of all of our nominees this year is the decision they made to put Grand Rapids neighborhoods first and foremost in their investment and expansion efforts.

“While those investments may have been personal; every person in our community is sure to benefit from the commitment of these dedicated individuals recognized this year.  Their efforts and those of many other unsung heroes, ensure that our neighborhoods remain a vibrant place to live, shop, work, and play.”

The event will begin with a “Taste of our Neighborhoods Reception” from 5:00-6:30pm where guests may network with one another as they enjoy food samples from six delectable neighborhood restaurants.  Mayor Heartwell is scheduled to preside over the “Presentation of Awards” from 6:30-8:00pm.

Generous support from DTE Energy and other sponsors underwrite the event and make it free and open to the public.  No RSVP necessary.

The Neighborhood Business Alliance (NBA) is a collaboration of all twenty Grand Rapids Neighborhood Business Associations that promotes an open forum for information sharing and business advocacy support.

Neighborhood Ventures (NV) is a not-for-profit community and neighborhood economic development agency that works to revitalize urban neighborhood business districts in Grand Rapids through small business recruitment and retention support, and, neighborhood commercial corridor organizing efforts.
