Residents in Kent County and surrounding areas who are looking for a new job can meet with over 30 employers at the Grand Rapids Job Fair on Wednesday, January 16. The job fair will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at West Michigan Works! Westside Service Center located at 215 Straight Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI.
The Grand Rapids Job Fair will replace the monthly Community Job Fair that was previously hosted by Kentwood Community Church. “Kentwood Community Church offered a great resource for job seekers in our community, and we are happy to keep that going,” said Joe Thiry, Business Solutions Assistant Manager for West Michigan Works! “By hosting so many businesses at one event, job seekers have the opportunity to make a great first impression with a variety of employers and apply for multiple positions all at one time, in one location.”
Attendees can meet face-to-face with employers, learn about current job openings and apply for positions on-the-spot. Representatives from multiple fields including education, health care, hospitality, manufacturing and more will be present at January’s fair. Job openings featured this month range from CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants) to line cooks and behavior therapists to firefighters. Starting wages range from $10 per hour to $90,000 per year.
The Grand Rapids Job Fair will take place the third Wednesday of every month, except for December, and will alternate locations every other month between West Michigan Works! Westside and Franklin Service Centers. Next month’s event will take place at the Franklin Service located at 121 Franklin St SE, Grand Rapids, MI on Wednesday, February 20.
Job seekers can visit westmiworks.org/GRJobFair to learn more and see a complete list of participating employers and their open positions.
