Learn more about the rise and fall of the World War II German submarine fleet from Keith Gill, the former curator of the U-505 submarine at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The U-505 submarine is the only U-boat captured by the U.S. Navy during the war. It is one of only five U-boats left in the world and the only one in the United States. Gill will discuss both the restoration and relocation project for the submarine, which took seven years and cost $35 million dollars. He will also discuss U-869 which was discovered off the coast of New Jersey and the subject of the book Shadow Divers.
