No-cost in-person High Blood Pressure Control workshop in Cascade area still has openings; more workshops available online

If you are living with high blood pressure and want to be healthier, consider taking an upcoming in-person High Blood Pressure Control (HBPC) workshop in the Cascade area of Grand Rapids. Provided by The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, the interactive eight-week workshop features a health coach working with a small group to explore skills and tools that help people with chronic diseases to improve the quality of their lives. Each week, the group discusses strategies to help people live healthier lives and set practical, achievable goals.

Session topics include controlling symptoms, decreasing stress, advocating for yourself, communicating with health providers, and more. The workshops are open to all adults in Michigan with high blood pressure, their caregivers and their loved ones.

Sessions 1-8: October 23 to December 18
New participants will receive a blood pressure monitor and can join through Monday, October 30.

The NKFM provides additional PATH (Personal Transformation to Health) workshops over Zoom. These no-cost PATH workshops helps people to manage chronic diseases and live healthier. The workshops are open to all residents in Michigan (and their caregivers) with access to a computer, tablet or smartphone.

A general PATH workshop, which can be helpful for anyone living with a chronic disease, will start with an information session over Zoom on Tuesday, October 10 at 1:00 pm. Chronic Pain PATH workshop, specific to those living with chronic pain, starts over Zoom on 

Monday, October 2 at 6:00 pm
Sessions 1-6 run through November 6

Diabetes PATH workshops, specific to those living with type 2 diabetes, will start over Zoom with information sessions on Wednesday, October 4 at 1:00 pm or Monday, October 16 at 6:00 pm.
