GRAND RAPIDS, MI (December 22, 2014) --Well-known appraisers will be on hand at the Grand Rapids Antiques Market to evaluate a variety of antique items.
“It’s not only interest in vintage and antiques that is going up, so are the values,” says Melissa Sands, of Vintage Promotions, producer of the event. “There's a chance everyone has a rare gem in their attic and the show provides a great opportunity to get an expert opinion of an item's value.”
Among the most stunning price records set in recent years have been from the area of sports memorabilia.
Michael Osacky of Baseballintheattic.com in Chicago is a vintage sports collectibles expert and will be providing free verbal appraisals to attendees who bring in their vintage sports cards, autographs, programs, scorecards, rings, bats, player collections or other items. Osacky has appraised world championship athlete collections from the Chicago Bulls and New York Yankees. Osacky appears on WGN Chicago news several times per year and contributes to New York Times, Kiplinger's Magazine and other publications. One lucky person will have their story featured in an upcoming column for Parade.
"If you don't have baseball cards, don't worry," Sands says. "Lots of vintage items have impressive value."
Schmidt’s Antiques of Ypsilanti, Michigan will appraise all types of art and antiques for $5.00 each and Terry McBurney will be evaluating old fishing tackle and equipment.
First held in 2007, the 2015 Grand Rapids Antiques Market will be held January 3-4, 2015 at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids. More information is available at www.grandrapidsantiquesmarket.com
