"Not only is The Rapidian a valuable resource for our community, but it provides a place for new writers (like me) to get professional experience too." -Heidi Stukkie
Words like these came flooding in with donations over the past week-and we found ourselves overwhelmed not only with the financial generosity of our community, but the appreciation for our citizen journalism platform as well.
It is with gratitude that we can announce the results of our very first fund drive:
181 donors.
10,075 dollars.
Hundreds of moments filled with kind words, generous sharing on social media and expressions of support.
This first effort was a success-and a sign that we can, as a community, sustain The Rapidian for years to come. We look forward to continuing to provide your hyperlocal news source- and the tools, training and mentorship needed to support our reporters that make it possible. I'd say we have proof positive that we are indeed "powered by the people."
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again-from the bottom of our hyperlocal citizen journalism hearts.
If you missed the fund drive's official times, never fear: you can still be a part of the community supporting The Rapidian by clicking the "Make a Donation" button at the top of our website.
The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.
We need your help.
If each of our readers and content creators who values this community platform help support its creation and maintenance, The Rapidian can continue to educate and facilitate a conversation around issues for years to come.
Please support The Rapidian and make a contribution today.
