INTERVIEW

Catalyst Radio looks at a city infrastructure issue that has only become more highlighted with recent severe winter weather – the condition of city roadways, determined to be a vital component for a vibrant city.

The City of Grand Rapids has come to a point of depleted funds for maintaining the streets, according to Mayor George Heartwell. With the resulting deterioration, the City Commission appointed a task force to conduct a year-long study on current conditions and possible solutions.

The Sustainable Streets Task Force recently presented an interim report to city leaders about its findings. In studio is Task Force representative Joshua Leffingwell, to talk about the makeup of the commission, key findings from the study, and recommendations for possible funding of street rehabilitation and upkeep of the streets is infrastructure.
