Shortly after celebrating their one year anniversary, the Downtown Market welcomes ArtPrize visitors for a feast of colorful art and entrees.
Draping the length of the entry, "Bloom Bloom" is comprised of construction flagging tape and chicken wire which is an attractive nod to the construction site next door. Visitors can explore "Ornamental Invasion" in the alcove kiddie corner to Rak Thai (with generous helpings of Pad Thai and Bubble Tea). "Mississippi Flyway: Alive in the Sky" suspends North American birds between the first and second floor of the market, within a birds eye view of Fish Lads.
On the second floor, pop colors contrast against the Market's year-round greenhouse. "Oil Flowers" employs bright plastic bags in the shape of cartoonish flowers, while "A B See?" approaches each letter of the alphabet from the lens of a child, using a Giraffe painting for J and a Kickboxing Kangaroo for K. The adult conversation takes over again in the three course piece, "Dinner Party," which consists of cocktails, conversation and charades.
The Downtown Market is located at 435 Ionia SW, just south of Wealthy Street.
