Maker Faire is looking for participants who enjoy tinkering, hacking, building and designing new technology-based inventions. The Grand Rapids Maker Faire encourages local makers and tinkers to sign up and showcase their projects, skills and hobbies at this annual event.
A city built on making, creating, brewing and innovation, it’s an all ages gathering to celebrate what we here in Grand Rapids are doing throughout the year! Makers should plan to showcase a hands-on demonstration or activity. Demonstration areas are available throughout the Museum, on the Museum’s lawn and next door at Grand Valley State University’s College of Engineering. Maker Faire is a great way to network with other like-minded people, who are building, creating and designing just like you! Have questions or need inspiration on how to continue on a project, or want to share your knowledge with someone who needs your help? Being a maker give you that opportunity, including a special after hours maker-only event to really get to know each other. Spots are first come, first served basis.
This year's Maker Faire expects to see more than 7,000 visitors throughout the two day event. Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.
The Faire will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 19 and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 20. Tickets will go on sale in early summer for Museum members and the general public.
Any groups or individuals interested in participating in the Maker Faire should complete the application at GrandRapids.MakerFaire.com.
