“Changing the Way We Age” -- A Healthy U Lecture

Monday, September 14, 2015

10 a.m.

Whole-person wellness is a balancing act, according to Connie Wysocki, RN and Kara Hansen, an exercise physiologist at Covenant Village of the Great Lakes, a senior living community in Grand Rapids. And it’s key to living a fulfilling, vibrant life, no matter your age. The duo will present “Changing the Way We Age” as part of Covenant Village of the Great Lakes’ Healthy U lecture series on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at 10 a.m.

This month’s Healthy U lecture kick-starts the community’s celebration of Active Aging Week (Sept. 27-Oct 3, 2015), a national event that celebrates aging and active living. “Changing the way we age starts with physical activity,” said Hansen. “When we take care of our physical selves, our spiritual, mental and emotional well-being improves. It’s about finding that balance.”

During the presentation, guests will learn how daily physical activity improves health, prevents disease and contributes to a more balanced emotional and mental state. They will take home tips for starting or maintaining a daily exercise regime, and then leave inspired, ready to make changes that will enhance their daily lives.

Enjoy coffee and refreshments at 9 a.m., followed by the presentation at 10 a.m.

The free program is part of Covenant Village of the Great Lakes’ Healthy U monthly lecture series. Reservations are not required. For more information, please visit or call (877) 812-8745.

Covenant Village of the Great Lakes is located at 2510 Lake Michigan Dr., N.W., Grand Rapids. It is a not-for-profit, faith-based continuing care retirement community administered by Covenant Retirement Communities.
