About 90 people gathered on November 23 for a noon potluck outside the Monroe Center Biggby Coffee www.biggby.com. Organized by Danny Beckett, Cindy Grace and Lisa Lehmann people from all over downtown gathered to meet, greet and eat. Participants also brought canned and dry goods for the pantry at Mel Trotter Mission.
Mostly organized through social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook, the event's sole purpose was to gather people together and be thankful. In the spirit of the event, we asked some Rapidians what they were especially thankful about this year.
Roberta F. King is the Vice President of PR and Marketing at Grand Rapids Community Foundation and wrote the successful grant to the Knight Foundation that launched The Rapidian, though the IDEA of The Rapidian belongs to Laurie Cirivello. Story pitches about running and runners are welcome.
