We build community when we share our stories - whether they be a memory, an experience or just simply telling what we think is great about this place. STORY MATTERS. is a story collecting project from The Rapidian and GRTV.

The Rapidian's story fort made an appearance at the "Break it Down, Make it Better" event, put on by the Avenue for the Arts and hosted by the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art (UICA) on Saturday, March 1. Elyse Welcher owns Parliament The Boutique on the Avenue for the Arts, and has participated in every event she could: from Free Radical to ArtPrize to Art.Downtown. Welcher says she really felt like she had found her place during the Art.Downtown. event last year. She sees the participating in events with Avenue for the Arts and other downtown art events as great ways to see what Grand Rapids is doing to make the art community even stronger.
