Rodrick Dantzler—Processing what happened as a community

But what tonight will prove, as we gather in small circles, is that we're social creatures who sometimes can't make sense of things, can't see the bigger picture until we do it together.

More about what happened:

From The Rapidian staff*:

The day after, it's natural to melt into ourselves. Yesterday's events were surreal, and I'd wager that no one's thinking of going out tonight, pushing through crushes of revelers for a typical Friday evening. But how many are thinking of holing up, too?

The Rapidian might not have been the first URL you typed into your navigation bar when the news hit (tip of the hat to Tweeters, MLive, WoodTV, WZZM and others who did a commendable job covering last night's events). But what tonight will prove, as we gather in small circles, is that we're social creatures who sometimes can't make sense of things, can't see the bigger picture until we do it together. The Rapidian's roots are planted in this notion.

So in the aftermath, remember that your community is this entire city and beyond. Be brave. Please help one another by sharing your thoughts. Nobody has the answer to why things happened last night, what it means—there's no prerequisite for comments to be profound—but if we each pitch in our thoughts, maybe together as a city, we can begin to come to terms with last night.
