Poetic Progression Poetry Slam, Part Deux featuring HBO Def Poet Scorpio Blues
The event is a poetry competition or “slam” hosted by Grand Rapids poet, Brazen. Brandy Daley, CEO of Hot Water Cornbread, also known as HBO’s Def Poet “Scorpio Blues” will be the feature and guest judge for this event.
First place prize is awarded a money prize and the opportunity to feature at “Soul Cypher,” a Hot Water Cornbread Signature event in Oakland, Ca.
Poetic Progression has a three-fold mission:
- to bring nationally renowned talent and further expose to the art of spoken word to the Grand Rapids area,
- to raise funds for a scholarship fund to be awarded annually to two high school seniors in the community,
- and to collect children's books for GRPS Youth!
Advanced tickets can be purchased on the Poetic Progression Website or through the Wealthy Theater. Admission Tickets double as a Raffle Ticket for some AWESOME door prizes! People who bring a book to the slam will receive and additional raffle ticket.

$10 in advance
$12 at the door
$5 for students K-12 with Student ID
Doors will Open at 6 pm. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
The scholarship recipients will be publicly recognized at this event.
