PARTNERS FOR A RACISM-FREE COMMUNITY INVITES PARTICIPATION AT MARCH 26 ANNUAL FORUM

Grand Rapids, MI, February 26, 2010 - The Partners for a Racism-Free Community (PRFC) will host its Annual Forum  on Friday, March 26, 2010.

The event will take place at Kentwood Community Church, 1200 60th Street SE, Kentwood, Michigan and is expected to attract more than 400 area community members and organizational representatives.

2010 is the year to Engage, Inspire and Inform! Let us keep the efforts toward a racism-free community alive; let's celebrate our successes and accomplishments of the past and present and create a vision for the future!

This year participants will gather at a breakfast event to:

  • Be engaged by others who are taking further action to achieve a racism-free community through dialogue and networking with community members, leaders and youth committed to healing racism in our community

  • Be inspired by keynote speaker Victor Lewis, leader in the field of Anti-Oppression Diversity Work and Alliance Building, with "Lessons Learned from The Color of Fear".
  • Be informed about how our Designated Partners in the PRFC Standards and Credentialing process are creating a racism-free work environment.
  • Be introduced to opportunities for continued community involvement through PRFC Eats, PRFC Reads and PRFC Worships (the primary goal of these opportunities is for people to broaden their experiences and increase their knowledge of each other).

The PRFC and its annual Forum are supported by a broad coalition of community groups and individuals, including the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, Steelcase Inc., Woodrick Diversity Learning Center (Grand Rapids Community College), the Grand Rapids Area Center for Ecumenism (GRACE) and other local organizations.
